G: Yame Butler (SR)
Height/Weight: 6’5”/210 lbs.
Previous School: Drexel
2024-25 Stats: 13.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 1.8 APG, 36.6% 3pt
Offensive Impact
Efficient shooter in his only season with a big sample size. Ability to score at all 3 levels.
63.2% FG at the rim on 3.3 attempts per game (CBB Analytics). 37% from 3 on 112 attempts.
Off the ball, catch and shoot wing profile
Can score at the rim as a straight line driver. Has size and strength to score inside at the Big East level. Not much craft around the rim.
Quick release on jumper, doesn’t need much time or space off the catch.
Doesn’t force the issue as a creator, takes what the defense gives. More of a secondary ball handler.
Intriguing player in secondary actions, can play the 2 or 3 and potentially small ball 4 with his size.
A Pierre Brooks type of role wouldn’t surprise me.
Like him as a 3rd or 4th option, not so much as a 1st or 2nd option.
Defensive Impact
Average athlete, solid size and length for a 2.
Average lateral quickness.
Can’t mismatch hunt him on the perimeter, can be switched on to a 1 or 3 and be fine.
Not much of an upgrade on the wing for a Butler defense that struggled a year ago.
