G/F: Tyeree Bryan (SR)

Height/Weight: 6’5”/220 lbs.

Previous School: Santa Clara

2024-25 Stats: 10.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.6 APG, 42.9% 3pt

Offensive Impact

  • Profiles best as a lower usage spot up wing. 16% usage rate at Santa Clara last year so there shouldn’t be an adjustment period to a new role.

  • Can be considered elite in the catch and shoot game. 94th percentile in efficiency on 144 attempts.

    • Bryan has great lift on his jumper with a high release. This allows his shooting efficiency to stay relatively high whether he has a hand in his face or not. 36-93 on guarded 3pt catch and shoot opportunities last season (38.7%, 82nd percentile).

      • Shot release is fairly slow but his release height and lift will translate.

    • Particularly elite from the corner, as he shot 46.5% from this area on 2.2 attempts per game.

    • 42% 3pt shooter in his 3-year career, so we should expect him to be a reliable floor spacer.

  • Grades out much worse when shooting on the move. 41st percentile shooting off screens and 35th percentile in handoff actions further proves why he is mostly a spot up wing.

    • Doesn’t seem to be too comfortable when shooting off balance. Needs to be in rhythm for the most part.

  • Bryan can drive against poor closeouts and score at the rim with his wide frame and above average vertical. Not much creativity off the bounce, but he can challenge bigger defenders around the basket.

    • He does lack feel around the rim, so his rim scoring ability won’t be something this offense should expect consistency from. 39th percentile in rim efficiency.

  • Overall, Bryan is a great replacement for the Overton and Walton departures on the wing. His shooting presence will open up the middle of the floor for Anderson, Watts, and Toppin to operate and he will make opposing defenses pay as a weak side shooter when they overhelp in the lane. However, we shouldn’t expect much more of an offensive impact from Bryan. Scoring as a driver against poor closeouts and as a cutter are other avenues for his offense, but he will need to be great in his catch and shoot role to make an impact on the game.

Defensive Impact

  • Physical traits are there. 6 '5 " with a wide frame and a longish wingspan.

    • Gets through screens rather easily due to his wider frame/

    • Can realistically guard 2-4 if need be.

  • While he is versatile, Bryan is not a great lateral mover and is often taken off the bounce by quicker guards.

  • Isn’t super active with his hands either. Profiles better when guarding secondary actions than primary actions.

    • Guarding primary actions is more emphasized in a McCasland coached defense, so Bryan doesn’t fit particularly well on this end.

Overall Grade: C+
