G: Jacari White (SR)
Height/Weight: 6’3”/180 lbs.
Previous School: North Dakota State
2024-25 Stats: 17.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 39.8% 3pt
Offensive Impact
High quality catch and shoot option and is well above average as a movement shooter.
89th percentile in catch and shoot efficiency with 109 of his 163 opportunities being contested. Elite lift with a high release on his jump shot allows for him to be less bothered when guarded.
81st percentile when shooting off screens
White is much stronger as a catch and shoot option, but he is capable of putting the deck to either create his own jump shot or get downhill to score at the rim.
74th percentile in dribble jumper efficiency on 74 attempts last season.
He doesn’t have a great handle, which creates some skepticism when determining whether or not this skill can translate to a better defensive league in the ACC (Summit League was rated the 24th best defensive league out of 31, per Torvik). Gets away with a loose handle due to the passiveness of defenses across the league.
62nd percentile at the rim last season but not sure this is a skill that will translate either. The Summit League has the worst 2pt% defense in the country, and White can be erratic around the basket along with lacking physicality in general. However, he does display a quick first step that could translate to an extent.
Doesn’t see the floor particularly well. Hunting his shot for the most part but can make the right pass when the defense collapses. 2.3 APG compared to 2.0 TOPG last season.
White can be a secondary creator if need be, and he shows flashes of being a quality shot creator, but his below average handle to go along with his low volume of interior scoring lead me to believe that he will have a more limited game at the power conference level. Almost certainly not a 17 PPG scorer.
He may be needed as a creator more than I would like due to the projected roster.
He is a fantastic catch and shoot option so there will be a role for him within this offense, but his scoring ceiling may not completely be there.
Defensive Impact
Thinner frame, gets knocked out of position often and struggles with size.
Twitchy defender and moves his feet well. He should fit fairly well in the heavy pressing defensive scheme coach Odom deploys.
Good vertical athlete too. Not all that important defensively for his position, but he also rebounds at an above average rate for his size.
Better defender than the numbers say, but he is not a needle mover on the perimeter.
